Ideally I prefer longer term house sits but am now off to Peru at the end of the month so looking to housesit GLOBALLY so shorter sits wil be of interest too!
I have been in New Zealand for the last 6 years and a permanent resident for over 3. I enjoy life here enormously and even more so since I have been House Sitting and Wwoofing permanently from mid I'm very fortunate to be able to enjoy this lifestyle, travel to many different places and get to befriend many wonderful non human beings.
I house sat for a friend for a year looking after her home/veggie garden/chooks/dog/and cats. At times I also attended to the horses and stock when the farm manager was away. I later took in a very nervous cat that needed a home for three months as her owner was abroad. I love cats and have had them live with me since my late teens. I am also good with dogs and love walkies! As as vegan all animals are a priority and well cared for - and don't worry I won't make your pets eat a vegan diet (a concern of one home owner recently).
I have always owned my own home until I came to NZ so understand how important it is to look after a home. I'm no sloth either. The few properties I have rented have been handed back in better condition than when I took them on. I replace and repair things where necessary and am honest about accidents and so on.
I require internet access but other than that my needs are simple (some space in cupboards/fridge and freezer and a reasonably clean environment and the means to keep warm in winter).
In the spirit of house sitting even though I often am asked how much I charge I refuse payment, in exchange I anticipate I will look after your homes and precious pets without making a financial contribution.
