Choose me, and know that:
- Your animals will get excellent care, attention, affection, and exercise.
- Your home and property will be well-maintained and kept tidy.
- I do not smoke or use drugs of any kind.
- I'm mostly a home-body. When I'm not exploring your neighborhood, and am certain the animals have been tended to, I will probably be either reading or writing.
- I am punctual and responsible. As someone who has been self-employed for more than half my life, I am self-motivated and great at getting things done.
- I will not interrupt your vacation with needless queries and can cater the frequency and detail of updates regarding your pets/home to your desire (daily; weekly; monthly; somewhere in between; or only in emergencies).
- If you have staff, workers, or tenants, they will be treated professionally and courteously. (See the reference provided by one of my own employees or read customer reviews of my store.) I have 35 years (!) of experience in retail.
- Any instructions regarding your pets or home will be followed to the letter.
ABOUT ME
In October, 2016, I sold my record store to one of my competitors and have decided to take some time for myself before my next business venture. With that time I hope to travel and do some writing--I'm working on a first novel.
I'm a big walker, walking 70 miles per week, on average--and that's when not travelling. If you have an animal that needs exercise, providing it will be a pleasure and not a burden.
I also love the ocean, especially if it's warm enough to swim. It is unlikely I'll apply for house-sits in colder climates as I am not a "severe winter" person.
Though I haven't done any sits through Housecarers, I have done some through two other services as well as a bunch by word of mouth. Some of the people I house-sat for have provided references, which you can read in my profile--I'm happy to provide their contact details should you require them. I also have a letter from Toronto Police Services stating I have no criminal record. I'm happy to share that with you.
I've lived with many animals in the past* but consider myself primarily to be a "dog and cat person". I currently have one medium-sized mixed-breed rescue dog who will not be travelling with me (she stays with a friend) and have owned dogs most of my life; I also grew up with cats always as the family pets. My previous dog was ill and needed daily medication so am experienced with that aspect of pet care as well.
There are a few reviews of my character available throughout the internet: I'm on Air BnB with 5-star ratings for all my trips. Reviews of my store, many of which mention me by name, can be read on by searching for GoodMusicToronto -- all five stars. Housecarers doesn't seem to allow me to post links in my profile so please ask for links to those three sites.
