I am a non-smoker, non-drinker, pet lover looking for a place to write. I am resourceful, respectful of others' homes, and have some great references.
I have been traveling and living around the world for twenty-six years, and lived in or visited thirty-seven countries … so far. I really tried to live ‘normal’. Then in my early thirties, I accepted that I am not ‘normal’, and I am comfortable with that.
I have climbed to the top of a dormant volcano to catch the sunrise in Indonesia, communed with a high-land gorilla in Uganda, taught ‘city girls’ the excitement of rappelling in Costa Rica, snorkeled with sharks on the Barrier Reef in Australia, taught English in Japan, and even had a marriage proposal from a Masai warrior while on safari in Kenya. Recently I have been living in Costa Rica, and started my own business publishing a yearly guide book.
Over the years there have been so many people who have insisted that I must write a book about this journey I have been on.
WHY I WANT TO HOUSE SIT
So many have encouraged me to write a book as an invitation, and to consider a life beyond what they could have ever imagined – living outside the box and possibly all over the world.
WHAT I BRING/RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
I am open to learning new ways and means to get around, get what you need, and get what needs to be done. I am able to adapt to new cultures and customs, open to learning ways to accomplish tasks in ways respectful of the local customs.
I am very aware of the constant maintenance needed to keep Mother Nature ‘on her side of the fence’. Whether that is the constant attention to the effects of mold and mildew in a home, or the constant maintenance required to maintain a property. I have experience with basic gardening, and am a master pruner. I have experience with the frustrations of finding the materials needed, waiting patiently for work to be done, goods or workmen to arrive, electricity to come back on, and all this done in a foreign language.
As I have changed careers, countries, lifestyles, and homes many times, I have gained a broad and varied range of skills and talents. I am an excellent English teacher and truly do love to teach. I am a creative thinker and determined problem solver. I have successfully managed my own business for nine years – and all in spite of the challenges of living in a developing country. Aside from these practical skills, I have also developed my own energetic and healing practice – for myself on a daily basis, and available to others as a life coach, in private sessions, and a broad range of workshops.
