We are a newly retired professional couple married for twenty-two years. Colin (fifty-five)and Becky (fifty) have three children who are grown and flown the nest so we are free to embark on our next adventure. Colin worked in civil/ structural engineering and development in the renewable energy industry and Becky worked as a physiotherapist and has previous experience in hospitality, tourism and has worked as a butler's assistant in a private household. We have owned several homes and together have lived in Scotland and British Columbia, Canada ( Becky was born and grew up in Canada, Colin in Scotland) While our kids were young we bought a small farm in Scotland and raised sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs, pet cats and rabbits. All the joys and surprises of rural living with quirky old houses, power cuts, wood fires, frozen pipes, blocked drains, snowed-in roads, nursing ill animals etc -we have been there, dealt with it and survived to tell the tale! We also understand how important it is to be a helpful and respectful neighbour. We are both practical, adaptable and calm and can turn our hands to most things- Colin does most of our renovations, and we both enjoy gardening. We have also owned rental properties and managed them ourselves- finding tenants, sorting repairs and maintenance. When our kids got older and busier we moved into town-along with our dear family cat- to another house and challenging garden project! We both love the outdoors especially skiing, hiking and cycling. Colin enjoys golf, his motorbike and has sailed a lot. Becky likes art, music and antique-hunting. When we travel we like meeting local people, exploring quieter areas and trying new food-we don't tend to stay in hotels and avoid tourist traps. We are new to housesitting as a couple but Becky has done house and pet sitting for friends who can provide references. We appreciate that a successful housesitting arrangement is based on mutual trust and and we feel confident that we can give homeowners peace of mind - we bring with us a wealth of experience, a positive outlook and a genuine understanding of what it means to turn over the care of your home and beloved pets to newcomers.
