We are an Australian Family of four living in Ubud, Bali (Indonesia). I am a marketing lecturer/travel agent and my husband; Scott is a software engineer. We are self employed and work online so have the flexibility to be wherever we want in the world. Our eldest, Tom is nearly and loves Lego and drawing. Milo is nearly and loves toy cars, planes and all animals. Our kids normally go to school in Bali, however when we are travelling throughout Europe in we will homeschool.
We are really looking forward to housesitting so we can really get a good feel for an area. Our boys love animals and really miss our cat who is staying with my cousin in Australia. We have housesat in London and are about to start another one in France.
I am a homebody who also loves to travel (so does Tom) I love looking after my home and really enjoy the experience of looking after someone else's (especially when they have pets) Housesitting allows us to experience life the way a local would and brings us closer to understanding the culture of that particular country or area. It is also nice as the houses are usually bigger and a lot more pleasant than apartments or hotel rooms and it is wonderful to be able to spread out a little and enjoy some extra space as a family!
I have housesat twice and I am about to start my third assignment. Our first housesit was for weeks in Western Australia quite a few years ago (pre-kids). We were expected to water plants and look after the garden.
Our second housesit was in July in South London for weeks. We were responsible for looking after a large garden (many fruit tress, berries, vegetables and beautiful flowers), hand watering and also looking after a green house and all the indoor plants (stunning orchids). We loved it and our kids really enjoyed the garden and helping us water.
We are about to start another housesit next week in the middle of France for days where we have to look after chickens, sheep, cats and a dog! We can't wait.
On top of housesitting we have owned our own homes for about years and have always kept a beautiful house. We have had a cat and a dog as well as many pets within our extended family. Our kids both love animals however are very likely to eat any cherry tomatoes they find in the garden!
