Hello,
I have found myself an almost, full time pet and home sitter in the last year and love it!
After traveling to Mexico from the west coast via Louisiana, two years ago, I was pet, house and garden free. When a friend mentioned she was going away for a couple weeks I jumped at the chance to take care of her dogs, Jazz, Nelly, and Rodriguez (he was found in Mexico)and before I knew it she had recommended me to a friend, then another and another.
By January of this year I was almost completely booked through October. Mostly repeat families I'd sat for the first year. I knew there homes and their pets knew me, a great situation for everyone.
My one concern was my apartment. Should I let it go? I wasn't going to be there except a few days in several months. At the last hour I found a subtenant so packed up my stuff, rented a closet from my neighbor and decided to give more or less full time sitting a whirl.
It's been great! I love the animals and we are all best friends. The owners are always happy and enjoy their time away without worrying about gardens, pets, or sudden drenching summer storms. (Plenty this year, and I am there to mop up the water that always manages to find a way under the door or through the window. Or water the plants if we have a dry spell.)
I have always owned my own homes until I was bitten by the opportunity to see the world. Pets and kids had always kept me close to home before, but now I am "tia" (auntie) to dozens of dogs and cats. Since my much beloved Alex passed on after wonderful years I am so happy to have new animal friends.
As an apparel and interiors designer I had a wonderful career with lots of travel and shopping. Next, for ten years I owned three retail stores stuffed with, you guessed it, apparel, textiles, and home and garden objects of all sorts from around the globe.
After selling my last store I was home and could attend to all the projects that awaited. But, soon I was itching for more adventure and travel. Kids had all left for their own adventures, pets had passed, so once offered a chance to house sit I jumped and four years later there's no looking back.
I love houses and gardens. I understand how to take care of most household problems, having remodeled many older homes, and if I can't solve the problem I get an expert that can. (After discussing it with the owner, of course!)I'm sensitive to individual tastes from "over the top" to simple and Zen-like. Adaptable has become my middle name.
I know most weeds from "good" plants and error on the conservative side and a wiki search if I don't.
Leave me with instructions and I will attempt to follow them to the letter.
And your fur-kids will get tons of love, care, pets and walks when I sit for them. My Spanish is still so-so but my cat and dog are excellent! I also know a little, chicken, goose, rat, gerbil and snake.
I am a non smoker, drug free, healthy, law abiding, energetic, friendly, and dependable.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope we meet soon.
Abrazos, Priscilla
