About the Location
- Our Design Residence is located on the west coast of the Southern Italian province Calabria. The small community Coccorino is situated 220 m above the sea and offers a magnificent panorama of Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. It is next to the popular tourist destination Tropea, which In summer season is visited by many tourists. In wintertime activities disappear and you might find a much calmer atmosphere.
- The Hause is on a quiet side street in an agricultural zone, carefully inserted in a charming and spacious garden, maintained by a passionate gardener during the whole year.
- The nearest Airport (70 km) is Lamezia Terme (SUF), next Railway Station is Ricadi (8 km). Public transportation in usual sense is not available in this area.
- It takes about 10 minutes walk to the village center. Shopping, good restaurants can be reached by car within min, the district capital Vibo Valentia 30 min.
About us as Hosts and something about the story, why our house was built
- 1960, I was born in Zurich, where I opened in 1989 a studio for Interior Design. My wife was born 1968 in Thailand and lives since 1998 with me in Europe. We are both Swiss citizen, registered in Zurich.
- 2001 I was diagnosed with MS, which made it impossible to continue with my professional activities as before. I decided to change my life and stopped business in Zurich. After starting to search I found this amazing place with its moderate climate. Exactly the right spot on earth to create and build our own house and garden. The architecture deals respectfully with the environment and fits in well. A house which was built with love and which always conveys good feelings to its visitors.
- Over the summer months we live in Italy and offer our 3 guest rooms for B&B tourists from all over the world. During the cold season we live in Switzerland and / or travel to other countries. See also the comments of our guests at s:// #reviews
Who are we looking for?
- Our house and its surrounding is an ideal and inspiring place for artists, musicians, photographers, writers and all creative people.
- For our well-kept home we are looking, favorable for a couple who agree with living here during a part of winter season at beginn of Uncomplicated and easy-going people who are interested and have spontaneously time and desire, to recognize and enjoy the characteristics and spirit of this beautiful place. We thank you for your understanding that we can not accept applications from people with children or / and with dogs.
- We need trustworthy people who will leave behind our house with a satisfied smile on their face and with the honest intention, to see a happy expression on our faces too.
- We plan to return to Switzerland on the 15th of January for about 15 weeks and do not want to leave the house uninhabited. Before leaving we invite our house sitters to spend a few days together, so that we can explain everything, give tips and hints so that they can find the way around the new environment.

Please apply only if the following points are okay for you:
- You agree to return the house in the same condition as it will be left for you: Defrosted Refrigerators, kitchen, cabinets, drawers, windows, floors etc. all will be cleaned in hygienic condition.
- You regularly clean the area used by you and ventilate the rooms.
- You inquire on the web about the winter weather and the place itself.
- You agree that all charges for electricity, internet provider, gas, water consumption will be taken over 100% by you. Please note that energy costs in Italy are relatively high compared to other countries. We will ask you to make a payment in advance. During the time of your housesitting, the invoices will be paid by us, the costs are settled at the end. If you like to use firewood for heating, it can be delivered by our gardener and must be paid directly by you on the spot.
- We d'ont like pets inside, however we love some cats sleeping outside on the terraces which should be fed by the housekeeper. Of course, we take over the costs of the feed.
- You know that having your own car is absolutely necessary.
- In contrast to Northern Italy, only a few people speak a foreign language in Calabria. So far it is a great advantage if you are able to speak and understand a few words in Italian.
