About Me

I've been an online ESL teacher for four years; prior to that, I was a freelance tutor in history and English literature.  My BA is in international relations, and traveling in some form has always been in my plans.  I'm from California, but car culture isn't my thing.  I'm a historical fiction fan.  I review novels for the Historical Novel Society.  I would like to begin writing my own historical novels.

I had a cat for many years as a kid, and I have been fond of my brother's cats.  I have some balance difficulties, so I look for housesits with railings and/or minimal stairs.  

Why I'm Interested in House Sitting

I would like to see the world and to have space to write.  As I said, international travel in some form has always been in my plans.  To do it in a way that gives me space to begin working on a novel would be wonderful.  The chance to care for and spend time with cats makes the opportunity all the more wonderful.

LibraLiterati was my first housesitter ever on this platform, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to this community. She was prompt in responding, did an amazing job watching our cat over the 3 weeks she stayed in our house, and even cleaned up and left the house just as we brought her into it. She was thorough in asking questions that I hadn't preemptively laid out for her, and I would have her come housesit for us again in a heartbeat. Even over dinner, she made an excellent conversationalist, discussing all sorts of topics from the housing market to American history. I wish her the best of luck with all her travels, and would strongly recommend her as a housesitter wherever you are in the world!
