Require a house/pet sitter to look after our two dogs (boxer-cross) in our home in the mountains on the edge of the Tejeda National Park in Malaga, Spain. We are relocating to Panama and need to leave our dogs with a capable sitter in their own home for 5-6 weeks while we organise accommodation and paperwork, then a pet courier will collect them for the journey to join us in Panama during the first week of January 2012.
The dogs are Butch and Sunny, they are 11 years old but still energetic, healthy, and love their walks on the hilly tracks. They are friendly, well behaved and very easy to care for.
The cottage is an old Spanish farm cottage, fully renovated and very comfortable with two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, small kitchen, lounge/diner - patios and decks with a small plunge pool, incredible views. It has a flower garden that will require some basic care, mostly keeping weeds down and watering of some pot plants. The house has mains water and electricity. There is a wood-burning stove which we use as main heat source but also electric panel heaters. Hot water provided by electric boiler. UK satellite TV and broadband internet. The house will be rented from mid January so will be fully furnished and equipped with all linen, towels etc.
The cottage is located on a ridge in the foothills of the Sierre Tejeda, a rural location, beautiful countryside, very peaceful and a great location for hikers, cyclists and bird watchers, being located on the edge of the national park. The cottage is 8km from the old Moorish village of Canillas de Aceituno. The village has various small grocery shops, butchers, bakers, post office, banks, two restaurants and a few bars. Large supermarkets are 40km away on the coast but it is possible to get most items in the village. There is a bus that runs from the village to the coast. It takes 40 minutes to hike the valley from the cottage to the village. Local neighbours (Spanish, English and German) are extremely friendly - its safe to hitch a ride to the village or the coast. Coastal town is Torre Del Mar - great seafood. Malaga is 50 minutes drive, Granada is 1.5 hours drive, Sierra Nevada (outstanding skiing) is 2 hours drive.
