My home is in Beaufort NC, voted the coolest small town in America! I live in a very quiet neighborhood that has a marina on North River which goes to Beaufort, the Outerbanks and the ocean beyond. Our county is called the Crystal Coast because of its beautiful south facing Atlantic beaches.
The town of Beaufort is a small, quaint seaport town with a beautiful historic district, phenomenal restaurants, boutique shopping, an active waterfront and the home of a top class Maritime Museum. The waterfront is active with sail and power boats traveling the eastern seaboard.
Across a two high rise bridges is Morehead City with its History Place, more great restaurants and a few small shopping malls. Another bridge crosses Bogue Sound and the ICW and takes you to Atlantic Beach with Fort Macon restoration, a top nationally ranked Aquarium and miles of beach with public access.
I have two kayaks- a tandem and a small yellow duck plus paddles and life jackets and I have two bicycles. You can ride a bike to downtown Beaufort (2.5 miles) without ever coming to a stop light. We have a fabulous Saturday farmer's market, live music every night, the annual Pirate Invasion, music festivals and a very active waterfront. You can fish off our community dock or public docks around the area. The use of our neighborhood boat ramp could be arranged if you decide bring a shallow draft boat or launch kayaks.
I have a darling 4 year old labradoodle who loves to go to the beach or walk with you AND the cat around the neighborhood. He is spirited so I have a fenced in back yard. My house is basically one story with a master bedroom, king bed and bath. Down a hallway separated by a stairwell is an office and a small guest room a second bath. I have recently added a sunroom, a deck and refreshed the master bath. There are two TV's and fast WiFi.
I do feed the birds and have house plants and will have several new trees in the yard that may need to be watered if we have a dry August. I hope this quite yet very accessible home in a classic old sea port and fisherman's community entices you like it did me 25 years ago!
