This 4-week housecaring assignment was pure joy. The new construction, stucco home is a labor of love and situated adjacent to the Coconino National Forest. The location is great for hiking right out the backdoor. If you want to get in your car or hop on a mountain bike, you can easily find numerous trailheads from easy to challenging within less than 15 minutes. We hiked every day and enjoyed canyons, mesas, rock scrambles and even a full moon hike. The new construction home was built for those who love to spend time outside. There are raised garden beds with rainwater irrigation systems. These gardens produced fresh vegetables daily. The front of the home has an exterior patio and grill facing Red Rocks so we ate outside, worked outside and relaxed outside. Buddy, the cat, was easy and funny to cuddle with or just admire curled up on a cushion or in the sun. We paid a small fee to join the Sedona Public library. This membership allowed us to check out DVD movies and cultural passes for free admission to a number of museums and historical sites. The local paper also has community events, so we participated in Red Dirt outdoor concerts, the Sedona wine tasting festival, the KPC Buddhist Stupa, several art shows at the Sedona Art center and the Jerome Film Festival. Janet and Dave are a wealth of information. They were exceedingly kind and thorough in sharing their favorite places to shop, eat and play in the Sedona area. We communicated via WhatsApp or Facebook during the month.
We were delighted to have experienced this community, the people who call it home and the hosts, Janet and Dave. It doesn’t get any better than being selected for this caretaking assignment.

Amazing views of the Red Rocks of Oak Creek and Sedona. We have completed multiple house sits over the years and this sit is definitely our favorite. The house is new, immaculately clean, thoughtfully designed and well decorated with Southwest art. There are multiple shopping opportunities for groceries. Fry’s is available in Cottonwood. Wholefoods Safeway and Basha’s in Sedona. Lots of ruins to explore at Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well and pictographs at V bar V ranch. Our hosts were very accommodating showing us trailheads and eating experiences. They treated us to fire roasted pizza from their outdoor pizza oven as well as Chicken Masala. These guys are the best. Buddy the cat is a character. He loves to give you a massage with his front paws. The internet is excellent, stable allowing us to use our Apple TV wirelessly. This is a premier hiking destination. Multiple trails to explore.
Don't pass on this opportunity to experience a beautiful home with perfect hosts and amazing views.
