Hello. We are seeking a reliable, kind, dog and cat lover to pet and house sit. Yama and Koko are the dogs, and Monsoon is the cat. Yama is a friendly, good-natured, lady who loves long walks on a leash or hanging out in our fenced-in yard. She weighs in at 65 pounds. Koko weighs in at 15 pounds, and makes up for size with a big adorable personality. Monsoon is a young tuxedo cat — he and Yama start each day with romping play.
We are located on the edge of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument with hiking trails along the edge of the Rio Grande Gorge. Great sunsets to the west and to the east lie the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Our home is solar powered — solar electric, solar radiant floor heat, and solar heated water. It's a cozy home with 20" thick walls that help keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, lots of light in an 18' x 18' open living/dining/kitchen, a small bedroom with a double bed down the hall, and a bathroom with a cast iron bathtub and washing machine in the closet.
It's a 20 minute drive to downtown Taos, New Mexico, an artful western town with good grocery store options, live music, literary readings, galleries and museums, historical buildings, and the Taos Pueblo. It's a destination worth visiting.
There's plenty of open space out here on the Hondo Mesa, yet neighbors are within sight. A 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle is helpful when ther roads get muddy, which can happen anytime of the year but mainly in the early spring and winter. The Mesa is quiet, peaceful, and the night skies add to the amazing beauty.
