We had an amazing time in Haarlem and surrounding areas, staying at Marusha & Pablo’s place! Their cozy apartment is located about 20 minutes of walking time from the historical center of the city. Marusha & Pablo were very generous by making everything (including their garden & bikes) available to us in their place and are very easy going individuals. Communication was great and although we did not have a chance to meet face to face, they felt like an extended family. Their sweet cat, Bruce, was very easy to take care of and almost took care of himself.
The location is excellent, with nearby (3 minute walk) supermarket, bakery, farm market and bus stop. Transportation within and out of the city is fantastic, but mostly we walked – you can pretty much get to anywhere within the town in 30 minutes or less and it was wonderful to get the local feel of the place. Haarlem is truly a beautiful, old historical town, wonderful people and atmosphere – a jewel of a city. Amsterdam is a quick 15 minute train ride away, as well as Zandvoort beach and Zuid National Park.
Overall, we loved our cat and house sit and are grateful to our hosts for this opportunity!
