Hi! We're Kelli and Ryan, a married couple interested in house sitting in various areas of the world. We lean towards warm-weather locations but would bravely embrace the cold weather for a particularly interesting assignment!
Originally from the states, we have been semi-nomadic since 2011
As of June 2020, we are currently in the US and are hoping to get on the road again soon. We usually don't do much housesitting domestically save our NYC sits when we are home in NJ, but even before this whole fiasco, we had been saying we wanted to see more of the US. International travel seems like a hassle right now so it seems like we will be forging ahead with that plan.
We are particularly interested in going out West--Montana, Idaho, Washington,etc... and we will have our own vehicle. Right now we can't commit to any specific dates. My mother passed away in May and will be listing her house the end of June; Hopefully it will sell within the next couple of months. If you are interested in possibly having us and have some time before you need to confirm someone for sure, please get in touch.
We are very passionate about personal development. If we have to get up and live life everyday, makes sense to make the best of it! And our' journey' has allowed us to create many wonderful things, namely location-independent businesses that allow us to travel extensively. I am a life coach and Ryan teaches people how to blog professionally and succeed in online business.
We have done assignments in Fiji, Bali, Nicaragua Costa Rica, Cyprus, Qatar, Thailand, Oman, Turkey, New Zealand, New Jersey and New York.- Less info
Reliable internet is a must for our work. Super high speed is not necessary. In areas like SE Asia where motorbikes are common, we are fine to travel that way and are happy to rent our own.
Because the location-independent nature of our businesses allows us to travel for as long as we want, we really enjoy spending time in places for an extended period to get to know the place, the people and the culture. Because we are working while traveling, we like some stability and the comforts of 'home.'
Housesitting is a perfect way to travel in our preferred manner. We are kind of 'homebodies' but like changing up where home is every so often. We also really adore animals so assignments with pets are just perfect for us. Slow travel is definitely more our speed, and we are very appreciative of the opportunity to do so.
We have done sits in an eclectic mix of environments, from a luxury property in Bali where we managed full-time staff to a bare-bones house three miles into the Costa Rican jungle, with no electricity and an outhouse (yes as gross as you are imagining!).
Our lifestyle is low-key and clean. We are very committed to our health and well-being, so regular exercise, a healthy diet, yoga and meditation are woven into our everyday life. We don't drink any alcohol or smoke, and nightlife is definitely not our thing. Besides our traveling lifestyle, we are actually kind of boring. ;)
While we are definitely very friendly and enjoy meeting people on our travels so we can talk with other people besides each other--us not spending enough time together is definitely not an issue with this lifestyle! --, we are not particularly social.
So we don't ever feel the need to 'entertain' and have absolutely no issue with following rules against having guests in the home.
HUGE animal lovers and experienced in caring for cats, dogs and birds. We also have done sits with chickens, pigs and alpacas. When you entrust us with your beloved pets, know that they will not just be taken care of, but truly loved and showered with plenty of affection. Without a doubt, we are the ‘love animals more than people’ type.
Between spending a good deal of time at home to work, and not really going out in the evenings, your pets will never be alone for long. We really miss having pets and are happy to just hang around the house playing with them. Long walks for the dogs are never an issue--great way to get some exercise in!
We have no problem with gardening and other basic upkeep of the property. We have had a couple of assignments that required pretty extensive maintenance of the grounds, and Ryan is very skilled with a machete, and enjoys using it quite a bit!
We love a clean and orderly space, so when leaving your home in our care, you can be assured it will be kept in tip-top shape.
I know a lot of people say they will treat your home and belongings like their own, but I have never understood that saying as we have always found a tendency to treat other people's things with even more care precisely because they're not ours so we can do you one better than that. Who cares if you ruin your own stuff ? ;) That's about it for now---if you want to know anything else, just ask
