Introduction

We are a fit, active, honest and responsible Canadian/British couple. 

Both professionals from the Hi-Tech sector: Maggie is a Product Manager for a major telecom corporation. Martin is a retired Professional Engineer. In his past role, he managed major electronic manufacturing projects around the world. 

Both of us have been thoroughly vetted by the U.S. and Canadian authorities via the Global Entry / Nexus (fast-track expedite border/custom entry) program.

We are both calm, relaxed and easy going with a good sense of humor.

Home owners and financially secure, we enjoy travelling and have traveled far and wide for both business and pleasure, covering Asia, Europe, America and Australasia, over 40 countries. We are independent and resourceful couple who can handle different environments easily. As well as the passion for travel, we also enjoy sailing and are members of a local Sailing Club where Martin volunteers to train new sailors on the basics of the sport.

Why We want to housesit

A Retirement "Test-Drive": House/pet-sitting provides us the opportunity to continue expanding our horizon and transition from the corporate life. For us, it truly is a retirement "test-drive": It’s a way to explore more destinations and REALLY get to know the places like a local and immerse ourselves into the local community.

Fulfill Love of Pets Companionship: Owning pets for decades in the past, we love the companionship they provided. Martin is now transitioning into retirement and we can fulfill the way of life to combine traveling and pet companionship. At the same time, we also provide valuable services which award us a sense of purpose.

What I bring to the assignment / relevant experience

We have taken care of 100 pets with 50 excellent references from previously completed assignments. 

  • Pet Care: Martin has had 2 border collies over 30 years. We are also experienced and confident of taking care of: rescue/small/large dogs; outdoor/indoor/feral cats.
  • Home Upkeep: Handy around the house with small repairs and house issues -- Home owners in the US&UK, experienced with many renovation projects. We also had experience taking care of large estates up to 5 acres including properties with Swimming pool, Hot tub, Heat Pumps and Septic Tank Systems.

Martin and Maggie house sat for us and our two dogs for 10 days. At our request they came a day earlier and left a day after our arrival so we could get to know them a bit better.  We chose them as they had excellent references from the many prior house sittings they had done. Our dogs warmed to them immediately and when we left it was with air of confidence that they would look after our house and animals as if they were their own. They were a delightful and interesting couple who have a tremendous amount of prior experience at house sitting. When we came back the house was immaculate and the dogs happy to see us, but a bit sad to see them leave. I would happily have them again to help out when we are away and would recommend them to anyone else in the same position.

Martin and Maggie have looked after our house, cats and houseplants twice in the past year. They did a great job and we feel you would be lucky to have them look after your home, plants and pets, all of which they would treat as their own.

They are personable and dependable house sitters. They took very good care of both our cats, drove us to the airport on our departure and fetched us upon our return. Before their arrival and while we were away they kept in touch, which added to our peace of mind. We came home to a clean house and happy and healthy pets and plants. We heartily recommend them.
