We are a non smoking couple from the Netherlands. Leon worked as a journalist, retired a few years ago, Anja is selfemployed, and still works occasionally in urban development. We live in Breda, a city in the south of the Netherlands. We have no children. Leon loves woodworking, is a keen photographer and has been playing baseball for 52 years. Anja loves running, reading, gardening and to hunt for vintage furniture and house decorations. We both enjoy travelling, hiking and biketours.
Because of the nature of our jobs we were able to travel extensively. Two months each year, sometimes combined with work like covering Grand Slam Tennis tournaments or interviewing Dutchmen abroad. Twice we took a sabbatical. The first time we travelled around the world, the second time we spend a lot of time in the US and Australia. With more time on our hands we would love to spend some time abroad in one place to get to know a place and people better.
We are homeowners too and love our small house and garden so we can imagine that you are very picky when it comes down to choosing housecarers. So would we! Over the years we have looked after all kinds of pets for family, friends and aquintances. This is because we love animals and were always home during the summerholidays as others went away with their children. The animals stay here or we would move temporarely to somebody's home, for instance friends with a hobbyfarm. We also took care of our friends hostfarm in Australia twice, taking care of business.
By now we can call ourselve experienced housesitters and enjoy it very much. We also have experience with old and/or sick animals. Giving them medicine or even putting them on a drip. Homeowners ask us to return so we must do something right.
Leon is very handy, if anything breaks down he knows how to repair it. He doesn't mind leaving him some repair or maintenace work. I love gardening so wouldn't mind at all to tend to your garden. And keep your house spick and span ofcourse.
In our picture gallery you will find pictures of the pets we have looked after. Some started staying with us as pups and now in old age we have to give them medicine and we cuddle more than go for walks. Our friends say they are happy that their pet can stay with us but likewise we are happy to have them around. We got to know all kind of different characters and they all have a special place in our hearts.
