I'm a long-term ACT resident with excellent references, a Police Check (highest level) dated 27 October 2022 and have had recent flu and COVID shots.
I'm available for low care housesits and willing to contribute up to $100 a week towards utilities.
I suit those wanting a low impact, security conscious person to care for a low maintenance property and ensure it stays secure with the experience and common sense to address/communicate issues appropriately as they arise (and often do) and can keep the costs down.
I've been house-sitting since early 2017.
This follows a very distinctive achievement that speaks to a life-time practice of respect for others property - leaving a rental property after nearly 2 decades in a condition that required neither re-carpeting (cream carpets) or re-painting (white paint).
I have a long-term habit of not wearing shoes inside, using surface protectors and I'm a light and careful user of appliances and energy. I almost never use a clothes drier. I can provide my own linen and mattress protector.
For me, there is a certain level of energy that goes into looking after someone else's property as I can only be comfortable if I feel I have made you comfortable, assured and safe to leave your property. So it is very much a formidable responsibility requiring a professional and organised approach, knowing the significant value, both financially and sentimentally, that a home is to most.
Please note, I'm not inclined to accept house-sits with camera's on the property. Please advise if this is the case if you do contact me. I will be as vigilant with your privacy as I am my own.
ABOUT ME:
I've lived and worked in Canberra since the early 90's.
I'm a busy, quiet individual, very interested in what's happening domestically and globally, and have a very strong interest in sustainability.
I like my space, so your home would only have me in it aside from an occasional visit if permitted.
I do contract work to Federal Government in procurement and contracts. I do like the part-time work from home arrangements that are becoming common and I've found it to work particularly well in the flexibility, extra presence and increased property familiarity it allows to better care for someone's home.
I've enjoyed friendly and warm housesitting relationships and I find there is a real win/win outcome to looking out for each other.
I'm competent, fit, healthy, sensitive, discreet, kind and absolutely respectful - a diligent and prompt communicator should you have any issues while you are away, and I'm proactive on house/pet issues.
I'm quite competent and interested in technology, which has proven useful in housesitting.
