We are George and Julie, homeowners, travelers, and pet lovers. Our jobs (independent contracting in the information technology and clinical research industries) allow us to telecommute, so we take advantage of this to travel while working remotely. In late 2014 we rented out our house and hit the road in our RV. We have been traveling and working from the road full time since then. If you're interested, we have posted some of our travel pictures to (s:// and to our travel account ( InspiredToWander1). We haven't posted much to our social media accounts since the beginning of the pandemic, but plan to start again soon.
We love animals and traveling to new places.
We are both fully vaccinated (Pfizer, two shots plus booster) against COVID-19.
Why Do We Housesit?
We strive to be travelers rather than vacationers. Admittedly, we enjoy some vacation-like activities, but we aren't the type to spend all our time in tourist areas. Instead, we try to seek out non-touristy locations / experiences and to make local connections. We find that longer-term housesits provide us with a more authentic/local experience than staying in a hotel.
Because we love pets, having the opportunity to spend time with them on some of our housesitting assignments is a huge bonus for us. We very much miss having pets of our own. (The only reason we don’t currently have pets is due to our plans for some extended trips abroad.)
In the past, we volunteered at a local animal shelter and assisted with animal rescue transports. Our household has included cats, a giant breed dog, and a turtle. As children we had freshwater fish and Julie grew up riding ponies on her grandfather's farm. We have had friends leave their large and small breed dogs with us while they went on vacation. We have also done home visits to take care of a friend's seven cats while she was on vacation. We have done housesits for households with cats and dogs.
George is incredibly handy and can troubleshoot/fix almost anything that goes wrong around the house. Julie has a nursing background and worked for a veterinarian for a short time in college, so is very comfortable managing pet medical issues. All of our pets were quite elderly when they crossed the rainbow bridge so we are comfortable caring for older pets with medical issues. As pet guardians, we have experience with oral medications, giving subcutaneous fluids, checking blood sugars, and administering insulin.
We hope to hear from you soon!
