We’re Jay and Louise. And we're thrilled to be house and petsitting ...Availability: Perth: Fron 6 November - 15 December 2023. Then, Australia-wide from 15 December 2023 until 1 March 2024.
We're currently pet sitting in the US in Bozeman, MT and have upcoming sits confirmed in California in Lodi, Lompoc, and Palm Springs. From there, we'll head back to Australia (see above).
Earlier this year we completed five consecutive pet sits in the Sydney area -- a Groodle puppy, a third return sit with Billy the Cavoodle, six rescue cats, a menagerie that included a wolfhound, Burmese cat, budgies, a bearded dragon, and two springer spaniels.
In 2022, going from one extreme to another, we spent a month in hot, sunny Palm Springs, California with the majestic Miss Kitty and a month in chilly, rural country WA with two active dogs and a loving cat. Both environments were dazzling and beautiful. We've also cared for two adorable Lhasa Apsos in Perth, a rescue bull terrier and mature kitty in greater Sydney, and twice for a spectacular cavoodle in Paddington (NSW). It's been fun, varied, and busy.
We have been so blessed to travel much of the world witnessing its wonders. However, at this stage in our lives, we are more interested in experiences than in sightseeing. We enjoy spending extended periods in one new or revisited place where we can care for and cuddle with your cats and dogs, visit the local café on a regular basis, and absorb the unique attributes of your community. This is what makes our hearts sing.
We’ve been married for 47 years, and while we’ve spent much of that time in Los Angeles raising our children and working in the communications and entertainment industries., we’ve also lived in Denver, Memphis and Boston in the US. And, in 2005 wanting a lifestyle change, we migrated to Western Australia. Now, we’re retired and we divide our time between Australia and Southern California. Life is good.
We are US citizens and both hold Australian visas that allow us to live and work there long-term.
We’ve edited our possessions and whilst still remaining active and relevant, we’ve opted for the two suitcase life and have never been happier. Our only regret to this new found freedom and mobility is our inability to have our own pets, who have been an integral part of who we are. We have fostered numerous kitties for Western Australia’s cat rescue centre, giving us heightened sensitivity to and experience in caring for abused and unwell little ones.
We love to experience first-hand exposure to and interaction with other cultures. We are curious, independent, adaptable, low maintenance people with very good problem solving skills, should they be required.
All we need is a reliable, fast internet connection and a comfortable place to rest. AirCon/heating and access to a car are also appreciated.
We'll bring fresh energy and enthusiasm to looking after your beloved pets and your unique home.
In addition to our sits, we completed a housesit in Perth in March 2020 looking after a stately, elderly kelpie just before Covid restrictions were put in place.
We also completed three housesits in for the same family in Busselton WA caring for two lively and wonderfully affectionate dogs (Denny and Margot) and a regal, elderly and equally affectionate cat (Gordon).
We housesat in December 2019/January 2020 in the Sydney area where we looked after a loveable cat named Jasper, minded the owner's home, and also cared for the eight rescue cats at their business (which was closed during the holiday period).
