Hallo, I am a retired medical professional with an interest in natural health. A nature and animal lover, currently living with my working husband and one sweet little girl cat in our comfortable house with an organic garden in the South of England. 

We are non-smokers. Our lives are quiet; we like each others company and tend to enjoy home life, good home made cooking and just sitting to look at our garden. Having owned many homes over the years  I am adept at house maintenance and DIY jobs to let life run smoothly. Walking to nearby shops or for leisure/pleasure is a favourite pastime and my bicycle is my preferred method of trasport.

We are active members of a local sailing club; apart from the obvious enjoyment from the social side of membership, my high point is to be out in the club safety boat to support races and trainnig events. I love the sea. Love swimming, although UK waters now feel a bit cold. A regular pool user!

Currently we are dreaming of a relocation to Portugal and in the next couple of years I want to explore different locations; I am interested in getting insights and perspectives from people who have already made this move as well as wanting to be there to experience a Portugese way of life. Our plan is for my poor husband to hold the fort at home - complete with SLC (sweet little cat)  until we can find a permanent home abroad. I hope a home stay or house sit with your pet(s) for company will be good for both of us.

Anne housesat our permaculture homestead for three weeks, with a few additional days before and after for transition and personal time. She showed dedication in learning about our property's needs, taking notes and asking questions to understand our semi-automated systems for plant irrigation and animal care.

During her stay, Anne encountered several unexpected situations. We experienced more duck escapes than usual, which she managed to handle by coaxing the ducks back. She also took steps to improve the fencing layout, which helped reduce further escapes. When our cross-pond water pumping system clogged, Anne learned to manage and unclog it after some initial guidance via WhatsApp.

Anne demonstrated resourcefulness when dealing with personal inconveniences, such as repairing flat tires on the guest bike we provided. This showcased her ability to handle setbacks independently.

One notable aspect of Anne's care was her daily routine of gathering thistles for the ducks in the nursery, who had limited access to fresh greens. This thoughtful act provided enrichment for the ducks and they began to anticipate her approach.

Upon our return, we found the property in good condition overall. Anne had cleaned and tidied the terrace and garage workbench, and her living space was cleaned before departure. These efforts were appreciated.

Anne's prior experience was primarily in DIY, house maintenance, and cat care. She adapted well to our permaculture setting, and took initiative to research our duck breed before arrival, which was helpful. She is a proactive problem solver and it shows.

Throughout her stay, Anne provided regular updates and sought help when needed for unfamiliar tasks. Her conscientiousness and desire to do a good job were evident.

In summary, Anne proved to be a capable housesitter who handled challenges with resourcefulness. Her efforts in animal care and property maintenance made her stay a successful experience for our permaculture homestead.
