We are a fun-loving and adventurous couple who enjoy traveling and experiencing life in other parts of the world. We enjoy the slow pace of cycling which allows us to connect with people who live off the beaten track, and have a passion for animals and a special interest in wildlife conservation. We also love walking and being out in nature, especially in the company of a dog or two! So far our adventures have taken us throughout Canada, Europe, India, the Himalayas, Asia, and the Americas. We have three wonderful children who are at universities in Canada and now that we are in our 50s, we are keen to see the world anew. House sitting is one of the ways we like to do this; to meet fabulous people like you, and to get to know your town and neighborhood in the company of your pets.
Both Mark and I are qualified teachers. Mark taught photography for many years in the UK before we emigrated to Canada. Since then, Mark has built a career developing and managing indigenous education in northern British Columbia between working as a paramedic and ski patroller. Today he teaches English as a second language in class and online, while I continue to teach special education online, ensuring that one or both of us will always be home to care for your wonderful pets.
Why do we want to house and pet sit?
House sitting is more than just a home away from home, it is where we can discover new and exciting places, and where we can enjoy spending quality time with your pet(s). After all, no home is complete without a furry companion!
We have a house of our own which we rent, so we fully appreciate any anxiety that you may feel at leaving your property and pet(s) with others, but there is no need to worry. We are a respectful, non-smoking, and responsible couple who will treat your property and pet(s) with the love and care they deserve, allowing you complete peace of mind while you are away.
Our experience
Over the years, we have adopted several rescue dogs and cats plus a menagerie of small furry pets which our children collected along the way! On our small farm in Northern British Columbia, we owned and trained horses, kept free-range chickens and ducks, and house-sat several farms with dogs and cats of all sizes, temperaments, and medical needs. We have also house-sat miniature ponies, cows, goats, and pigs, and have often pitched in to help out with general maintenance, fencing, and construction. We are also comfortable carrying out most DIY repairs and really enjoy tending to gardens and indoor plants.
