Hello! I’m a newly retired nurse case manager with a thirst for adventure and a deep-seated love for animals and diverse cultures.
Now that I’m retired, I have time to dedicate to caring for your home, garden, and pets. Dogs and cats, in particular, seem to find a friend in me quite naturally.
Background and Lifestyle
My last house and pet sitting was July 2022 for two weeks in Orlando, FL. Early 2022, went to Albuquerque, NM for 4 months as a Travel Nurse. Stayed in an Air bnb home and ended up doing all routine home maintenance and gardening for the owners as they decided to travel while I rented part of their home.
I’ve been a homeowner multiple times, living in and managing properties from cozy townhomes to spacious homes. For 3 years, we owned a oceanfront condo in Florida which furthered my skills in property management, decoration, and renter relations.
I’m all about respecting and maintaining your space as if it were my own, leaving it exactly as I found it. I pride myself on my cheerful, independent, and responsible nature. I don’t smoke, drink, or use drugs, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for your pets and property.
A Lifetime with Animals
Growing up in Miami, we always had one or two dogs: Doberman, Pomeranian, Chihuahua, and the loveable “Mutt”. With a few chickens and bunnies on occasion. My Havanese and Maltese dogs were well over 15 yrs. old when they crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Have also cared for many cats, including Maine Coons and Persians. Currently live with my daughter’s family including 3 old cats and a young Great Pyrenees.
My commitment to animal safety was put to the test when I fought off a 70 lb Pit Bull who had my 12 lb Havanese by the throat, armed with nothing but flip-flops and sheer determination. It taught me the importance of being prepared, leading me to carry pepper spray on walks—just in case.
Interacting with pets is second nature to me; I’m the person who’ll chat with your cat or dog, give them hugs and belly rubs, and instinctively clean their eyes of any gunk.
I understand that pets can have accidents, and I’m more than capable of handling clean-ups. Even when an older dog, almost blind, nipped me, I understood it was out of fear, not aggression.
My ex, a dog whisperer in Florida, has also shared valuable insights with me on being a pack leader.
Medical Care for Pets
My nursing background extends to pets; I’ve administered insulin shots and various medications, ensuring they receive their treatments with care and precision.
