As a retired physical therapist, (Robin aka Bennie), house/pet sitting has given me the opportunity to explore the many places I have dreamed about for years. An avid outdoors woman (favorite activities include kayaking, hiking, biking, camping and X/C skiing), I'm also very health conscious; no drugs, alcohol or smoking. Too, I am a great lover of solitude, especially when immersed in the natural world with a 4-legged companion.
A confirmed animal/dog lover, I have owned and trained numerous canine companions; my lab eventually became a therapy dog and joined me in my practice. A few years back, I had the great fortune to train as a service dog instructor and also join a regional animal rescue group. Additionally, I volunteered for our local therapeutic riding organization and currently walk dogs at our Humane Society.
Recently, I have become involved with the local CERT and Search and Rescue organizations in my home town. Both are fulfilling my committment to community service as well as providing valuable, transferrable skills useful in any environment.
Having lived in Southern Oregon most of my adult life, I'm enjoying expanding my horizons and visiting places that have long intruiged me. A minimalist at heart, housesitting has always worked well with my lifestyle. I am especially drawn to rural areas where I can immerse myself in nature and hopefully share that with my 4-legged charges. Because I do not currently have a dog, I love the opportunity to "share" yours while sitting. Ultimately, I am looking for another place to call home, and housesitting offers the ability to "try out" different locals and meet people I might not otherwise encounter.
I have had numerous house/pet sit positions, both long and short and in urban and rural environments. Pets have ranged from older and smaller canines and cats, to a young and vigorous yellow lab, requiring miles of romping on a daily basis. Some of my charges have required basic medical care, such a daily medications and wound bandaging; one very ill kitty needed meds and careful observation throughout the day. I am also familiar with basic grooming techniques for horses.
Having been a renter most of my adult life, I fully understand the responsibility of caring for someone else's property. I am very grateful to share your home for a bit of time; know that it and your beloved pets will be well cared for. I have been thoroughly vetted by law enforcement and am fully vaccinated.
